Koe Wetzel to headline Southwest Country Fest Aug. 24 at Woods County Fairgrounds

August 7, 2019

Are you ready to get comfortable in your lounge chair and listen to some Red Dirt Country Music? Maybe you want to jump up and sing along with every fiber of your body.

Whatever you feel, know that the Southwest Country Fest is coming to the Woods County Fairgrounds Saturday, Aug. 24. The music starts at 6 p.m. and ends about midnight.

Headliner singer Koe Wetzel will come on stage about 10:30, organizer Kyle Jacobs said. Wetzel has been playing to sold out crowds from South Dakota, Texas, to southern Oklahoma. Listening to some of his songs on You Tube, and you'll opt for jumping and singing – not lying back. Some describe his music as country with a rock-n-roll influence.

Leading up to Koe Wetzel's performance you can hear two artists who've previously performed at Southwest Country Fest. They are Kyle Park from Texas and Curtis Grimes also from Texas who both bring more of the Red Dirt sound.

New to the Country Fest stage this year is AC Jones, a woman from Ohio whom Jacobs said plays a lot of state fairs. From her website it appears Jones is a dark-headed beauty who has a hit song, “Mr. Moon,” that is pushing her career into another stratosphere. She has her own 2019 tour.

While at Southwest Country Fest, participants can enjoy food and beverage options from local vendors. Beer is for sale. No outside food or drink is allowed to be brought in to the fairgrounds. Campers can be set up for a small fee.

This is the second year Jacobs and his father, Jim Jacobs, have done Country Fest together. “Last year was our best ever,” he said. Jacobs reminded that Southwest Country Fest began about 14 years ago in Ashland and then was in Hardtner three years with Jacobs and Austin Graves at the helm.

Jacobs has a feeling this year's performance may just surpass the Country Fest last summer.

Tickets availabe at Southwestcountryfest.com.
