TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A Tulsa police officer has been suspended following his arrest on a gun charge.
Tulsa County court records show 34-year-old Jeffrey Shane Statum was charged Friday with carrying a weapon where alcohol is sold. He was booked Saturday and released on $10,000 bail.
The Tulsa World reports police took Statum into custody Aug. 3 after nightclub managers reported a drunken man with a gun and badge who claimed to be an undercover officer. An affidavit says the man was also reportedly grabbing women without their consent.
The affidavit says Statum denied groping women and claimed he wasn't flashing his badge or claiming to be a part of the department's special investigations division.
Police officials say Statum was placed on leave without pay. They declined further comment pending an internal investigation.
