Ya'll come next weekend for cool cars, great conversation and food trucks. The weather forecast shows a small chance of rain, but I am optimistic God will be good to us.

If you have access to YouTube, there is a song and video worth seeing. It is called "The Walmart Checkout Line" by Donna Hughes. It is very funny as well as being very true; it's worth the time to go see.

Well, another fair is in the books. If everyone had as good a time as I did it was a great fair. Brody Valentine won the 20 bucks at my booth. I had 210 people sign up. Cleo made it out Friday night and guarded the booth for a while. Brother Jeff showed up and we looked at all the animals and the neat stuff in the Women's Building. There were lots of nice homemade things. I tried to borrow a knife because I found some good looking jelly and bread to try, but no luck.

My survey this year was on the swimming pool and the financing. I had, fix the old pool, build new, and with or without splash pad as choices. I was a bit surprised by the results. I only had four choose to build new, and 84 to repair the old pool, with 18 wanting a splash pad with or without the pool. Keep in mind these choices were done without accurate cost estimates on repair or building costs.

The other side was financing options.

I had three choices and a freelance option. These choices were to be considered as we had firm costs in place. First was the property tax like was voted on before with one vote in favor. Next, was a 3/4 cent increase in sales tax with six votes, and last was a plan to use 1/2 cent of the economic development tax now funding the college scholarships and the rec park for pool repairs, or rebuild. Thirty-eight were in favor of splitting the cent already in place. I probably should have checked with the current regime, but a previous city manager told me that as an economic development tax the city could use it on any project they wanted without a vote of the people.

This survey was not too scientific, but it was random people, that weren't handpicked for answers. Some of the freelance funding ideas were pretty good, but we are working with a lot of money. The list included gifts, Go Fund Me, donations, fundraisers. dispensary taxes and grants. If we can get solid funding on accurate pricing, most of these things would follow.
