SE Suffers 3-0 Loss at UCO

EDMOND, Okla. – Southeastern clawed back from a slow start on the second of back-to-back match nights but was unable to overcome the deficit, falling 3-0 to Central Oklahoma on Wednesday night in Edmond, Okla.

The loss dropped the Savage Storm to 1-9 overall heading into a six-day rest before traveling to Bethany for a Great American Conference matchup with Southern Nazarene on Sept. 24 at 7 p.m.

SE dropped the opening set 25-8 but played neck-and-neck with the Bronchos in set two, trailing 13-14 before UCO reeled off eight-straight points to pull ahead and take set two 25-19.

Southeastern forced bonus volleyball in the third set, recovering from a 6-1 start and using a late 8-3 run to knot the set at 23-23 on a Jodi Dixon service ace.

The teams would trade points and tie at 25-25 before the Bronchos took the final two points and the set 27-25 to clinch the match.

Caroline Griffith led the way for the Storm with six kills, while Malaysia Burns added five in the effort.

Dixon handed out 15 assists and added a pair of kills, an ace, and 11 digs.

Defensively, Caitlin Cosby led the way with 13 digs, while Dixon added her 11 and McKenzie Turkoly chipped in 10.
