Alva street-sanitation supervisor retiring

Josh Hansel (left) receives the employee recognition award from Alva City Business Manager Joe Don Dunham. Hansel was recognized for his outstanding work in park maintenance. He will receive dinner for two, two movie tickets and an extra day of paid vacation.

"We're going to be losing a very seasoned veteran in our street-sanitation department," Dr. Bo Hannaford said in his Personnel Committee report to the Alva City Council Monday. He said his committee discussed joining the Oklahoma Municipal Management Association. He said the membership cost is minimal, from $2,000 to $4,500 a year. "What this will do is help us with some research, some grant help and also our posting of jobs," he said.

In the manager's report later, City Business Manager Joe Don Dunham said, "On Oct. 11, unless we fill it before then, we'll have a street-sanitation department...
