Second annual Alva Arts Alliance Gala is a sell out
September 22, 2019
The second annual Alva Arts Alliance Gala, "Jazzed About the Arts," opens its doors to ticket holders at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26, at ACT I Theatre.
Organizers of the sold-out event hope to meet or exceed last year's proceeds of more than $20,000 raised to benefit the arts.
The gala begins with a cocktail reception and live music by The Richard Hart Jazz Quartet. Dinner will be catered and served by Scott Forrest of Catering Foodies, LLC, with diners seated at decorated tables carrying out the theme "American Artists, Musicians, and Writers."
Silent auction items will include canvases created by area artists, artisanal pieces, and gift vouchers. Door prizes will be awarded during the evening.
Alva native Lance McDaniel will return for a second year as emcee. McDaniel is an Emmy nominated filmmaker and executive director of the deadCenter Film Festival. In August he filmed a short movie in Alva called "Send Me Wings." The movie is currently in post-production and gala attendees will be among the first to see the movie trailer starring several local actors.
The gala was organized in 2018 as the result of an Alva Arts District forum identifying three non-profit organizations in the community that would benefit from a single fundraising event involving patrons of the arts. Proceeds from the event go to Graceful Arts Center, Alva Community Theatre, and the Northwest Oklahoma Concert Series to fund their on-going visual and performing arts program.
Alva Arts Alliance Gala steering committee members are Kay Decker, Todd Holder, Kathy Earnest, Patty Harkin, Jesse Jones, Allyson Bush, and Lance McDaniel.
No tickets will be sold at the door the evening of the event.
