The modern guitar was developed by Antonio Torres Jurado in 1850, and in 1930 Adolph Rickenbacker and George Beauchamp amplified the guitar with electric pick-ups, leading to the guitars of today.
Billy F. Gibbons, in his book “Rock and Roll Gearhead,” gives a brief history of many of the guitars in his collection. All of them are named and he relates them to the hits he and ZZ Top are famous for.
