October 6, 2019
A felony warrant has been issued for a Freedom man on a charge of domestic abuse. Thomas Anthony Flowers, 30, of Freedom, is charged with domestic abuse – prior pattern of physical abuse. He is alleged to have committed an assault and battery on Priscilla Freeman, his sister, by punching her multiple times on the right side of her head with a closed fist. Regarding the prior pattern, on June 20, 2019, Flowers was charged in Woods County with misdemeanor assault and battery.
The felony charge is punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for a term of not more than ten years or by a fine not exceeding $5,000 or by both such fine and imprisonment.
According to court records, on Sept. 18 at 10:26 a.m. Woods County Sheriff’s Deputy Chase Bouziden responded to Saddle Horn Lane in Freedom in reference to a domestic situation involving Freeman and Flowers. When he arrived, he saw Freedom EMS was leaving the scene. They advised Freeman had refused medical treatment from EMS. Bouziden approached the residence and contacted Freeman who appeared very upset and was crying. She said she got into a fight with her brother at the home of her mother, Stephanie Harris, on Cimarron Pass.
Freeman said she went to her mother’s to get her daughter ready for school. Freeman said she was discussing her relationship with her brother when he came out of his bedroom and began yelling at her, and she started yelling back at him. Freeman said her mother took her daughter outside.
Freeman said Flowers came at her in an aggressive manner, and she was very afraid he was going to hurt her so she threw a pop can at him. She said the pop can missed and hit the wall. She said Flowers began punching her multiple times on the right side of her head with a closed fist. She said she covered her head with her right hand, and Flowers continued to punch her, mostly hitting her hand.
Freeman said her mother came into the house and got between her and Flowers, but Flowers continued to try to punch her. She said she was able to get away, get her daughter and go to her aunt’s house where she lives. She said she never hit Flowers and was only trying to defend herself.
Freeman said she called the Sheriff’s Office to report the domestic. Bouziden asked about injuries and Freeman showed him her right hand with the back being bruised and swollen. She pulled her hair apart, and he saw a large raised bump directly behind her right ear. Freeman said she was going to have a friend take her to the hospital.
Bouziden could not locate Flowers at the residence in Freedom. Later, he called his mother and agreed to speak to Bouziden on the phone. Bouziden asked him to come back to the residence so he could speak with him, but he said he was on his way to Erick, Oklahoma. He said Freeman started the fight and threw an object at him, and then they got into a fight. He said if she was going to press charges on him, he wanted to press charges on her as well.
When asked for his phone number, Flowers said he couldn’t remember. Bouziden asked him to call Woods County dispatch with the number, but he did not.
Bouziden went back to talk to Freeman who said she received several text messages from Flowers. She showed him several messages which told her Flowers was having someone pick up his belongings and he was moving to Erick. Bouziden asked her to email him the messages and she said she would. However, he had not received any emails from her.
