Well, it worked

October 6, 2019

I tell lots of people "Pray for rain and cooler temperatures," and it finally worked. Trouble is, I don't know which of my friends had that kind of pull with the Big Guy to get it done. Anyhow, I am really glad to see the rain.

Last Saturday I took a defensive driving course; always lots of good information and stories to be had. It also gets me a discount on auto insurance. Joy Haltom did a good job masterminding the meeting.

This Saturday was my brother Jack's birthday. He is always easy to remember because he was born in 1950. For a month he gets to be a year older than Cleo. Happy Birthday, Brother, and to all you October babies. It has been a sad week for me in the friend department.

A lady, Debbie Rees, I had known forever passed away, along with friend Larry's dad, George Chase, a friendly old guy, Dave Moore, a tall friend always good to visit with. Jack Quinlan was Bill Crouch's brother-in-law, and I used to always see them together, and friend Raymond Knabe. Raymond could do something that would tick me off, but his personality would soon make me forget the problem. There have been some others that have passed in the last little bit I knew, but too numerous to mention. Treasure your friends and family, and take the time to visit when opportunity strikes, because we never know when the last time will be.

One thing that does have me worried is a lady that passed away a while back sent me a friend request on Facebook. Please don't be hurt if I don't friend you back.

Our Governor Stitt has declared war on contraband coming into penal institutions. I talked to someone about ways to stop cell phones from getting in, and they said what would work better is to jam the signals on all electronic devices in the prisons. Landlines could be used to get information in and out, and if necessary to use cell phones, all you have to do is shut down the jammer.

One non-jammer argument is that aircraft will be affected by jamming signals. I wonder if there is even a good reason for a plane to fly that close to a prison. As far as other contraband is concerned, anybody that comes in and out would have a locker to put everything on their person into. These sound really simple, so probably won't be thought about much. Have a blessed week.
