Waynoka musician charged in unpaid beer tab

A Waynoka man has been charged with a misdemeanor after he allegedly ran up a beer tab and failed to pay it.

Court records show on Sept. 29 at 2:44 a.m. Waynoka Police Officer Adam Barlow was conducting foot patrol through the UTV Takeover event on Main Street near the intersection of Santa Fe when he was approached by Dina Greiner and her husband John Greiner. They said they ran the bar vendor Travelin Taphouse.

Mrs. Greiner said the musician who had just performed there (William Jake Bowers) had run up a tab of $239 and then left without paying. She said several times during the event Bowers had offered to pay for other patrons’ drinks. She said he had given her a debit card in his name but told her he was going to be paid by the event manager that night and wanted to pay with cash.

Mrs. Greiner said she waited for some time but Bowers never came back to pay his tab. She then ran the debit card he left for her, but the payment was declined. The event organizers approached Barlow and said the event manager had paid Bowers $800 that night to perform at the event.

William Jake Bowers, 28, of Waynoka, has been charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to six months or a fine of $10 to $500, or both.
