Harding Women's Soccer Wins Second Straight Thursday

SEARCY – The Harding women's soccer team won its second straight Great American Conference game Thursday when it defeated East Central 2-1 at the Stevens Soccer Complex.

Harding improves to 5-6-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the GAC.

East Central falls to 3-7-0 overall and 1-3-0 in the GAC.

GOALS

East Central 1, Harding 0 – 21st minute – Alexis Castillo took a free kick from 30-yards out that went over the goalkeepers hands.

Harding 1, East Central 1 – 28th minute – Madison Massoth converted a penalty kick. It was her second goal of the season. It was Harding's second penalty kick of the season.

Harding 2, East Central 1 – 30th minute – Parker Smitherman sent a through ball up the left side that found McKenna Moore for the goal. It was her first collegiate goal.

STATS

East Central had 18 shots, 10 were on goal. Alexis Castillo led the Tigers with four shots, three were on goal.

Harding took 14 shots, five were on goal. The Lady Bisons had eight shots in the box. Madison Massoth led the Lady Bisons with three shots, two were on goal.

Jessica Woessner got the win in goal for Harding. She had eight saves.

Woessner, Amelia Lewis, Michelle Morgan and Samantha Rupe all played the full 90 minutes for Harding.

UP NEXT

Harding will be back in action next Thursday when it travels to Shawnee, Oklahoma to take on Oklahoma Baptist at 5:30 p.m.
