October 18, 2019

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Oklahoma Baptist men's soccer team got a pair of goals early in the second half to break a deadlock at one a piece and earn an impressive 3-1 win over Ouachita Baptist on the road at Kluck Field on Thursday afternoon.

The Tigers got on the board in the first five minutes to take the early 1-0 advntage, but that seemed to spark the Bison attack as they controlled possession and worked to find an equalizer throughout the first 45 of play, getting numerous opportunities at goal.

The equalizier would finally come in the 34th minute as a free kick from Alejandro Castillo was placed beautifully in the middle of the box and found the head of David Estrada, who sent it home to even the game.

That momentum carried immediately into the second half as an aggressive attack towards goal from Bruno Ferreira forced a foul in the box and gave the Bison a PK. Castillo would step up and calmly finish to push OBU ahead in the 48th minute, 2-1.

Moments later, another attack started by Ferreira was on the move, finding Luis Romero who fired a beautiful strike towards goal, but was saved. However, Dominic Gibson was there for the rebound to finish it home and increase the lead to two at 3-1.

From there, it was all Bison as they maintained possession and still got looks at goal while the back line held strong. Goalkeeper Elias Diaz would get the win in goal as OBU finished things off for the win.

The Bison move to 4-7-1 on the year and 2-5-1 in the GAC. They head up to Searcy on Saturday for a 10 a.m. kickoff against Harding.
