NWOSU Golf ends season at Battle for the Belt

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Northwestern Oklahoma State's golf team opened match play for the Battle for the Belt at the Hot Springs Country Club on Monday.
Round One: Winona State
Parker Rehorn led the way for the Rangers in the opening round of the tournament and shot a 2-under 70 to put himself in first place by a stroke after 18 holes. Rehorn snagged Northwestern’s lone point against Winona State defeating Brady Madsen by four strokes.
Tyler Berryhill shot an 81 on Monday, dropping his matchup against Tyler Beeck by five strokes, while Colten Person fell to Matthew Chandler by three strokes, after turning in an 82.
Keenan Hofstad scored an 87, losing to Isaac Westlake by 13. Joey Nix was the final scorer for the Black and Red with a score of 83. Nix fell to Abraham Elmore by six strokes.
Northwestern dropped their decision to Winona State 4-1, while Henderson State and St. Edwards collected pool play byes and Missouri Southern State defeated Union 3-2 to round out the first round.
Round Two: Union
In the second round the Rangers were matched up against Union.
Rehorn followed up a strong first round with a 74, as he was paired with Jordan Botwinick of Union, the only golfer that would best him from the Bulldogs. Rehorn is even par through 36 holes and now has sole possession of third at the event, three strokes back of Botwinick.
Berryhill posted a 79 in the second round. He was matched with Trey Tidwell and defeated him by five strokes. Person also secured a point for the Rangers, carded an 80. He bested Samuel Ross by one stroke.
Hofstad posted an 81, and drew even with his mate Blake Wolfe, while Nix dropped a point by seven strokes to Cal Templeton.
Northwestern tied Union 2.5-2.5 in the second round.
Round Three: Missouri Southern
The Rangers golf team dropped the final match to Missouri Southern State 5-0 to finish at the Battle of the Belt, hosted by Henderson State University at the Hot Springs Country Club.
The Rangers lost in each group against MSSU to finish in sixth place. Henderson State swept through match play to finish first, followed by St. Edward's. Union's Jordan Botwinick topped the individual ranks shooting a eight-under, 208.
Individually, Parker Rehorn finished tied for 10th with a three-round total of 70-74-82—226 and Tyler Berryhill posted an 81-79-80—240 for 29th. Colten Person was 35th at 82-80-90—252, Joey Nix was 36th at 83-89-82—254, while Keenan Hofstad carded a 87-81-88—256 to finish in 37th.
This was the final fall event for the Rangers as the team will be back in action in the spring.
