Former Barber County Undersheriff Virgil “Dusty” Brewer, charged with involuntary manslaughter, is scheduled for jury trial to start May 4, 2020, in Wyandotte County, Kansas (the Kansas City area). This is according to a spokesperson in the Barber Court Court Clerk's Office.

Brewer pleaded not guilty early this year to the state’s charge of involuntary manslaughter in the 2017 fatal shooting of the unarmed Steven Myers in Sun City.
