Feds charge immigrant whom ICE agent tried to free in Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Prosecutors have filed federal identity theft charges against a Mexican immigrant whom a former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent tried to free from jail.
The U.S. attorney's office said in a news release Wednesday that they have charged 33-year-old Juan Tapia of Mexico with one count each of using another person's Social Security number, aggravated identity theft and unlawful possession of a firearm.
