Kiowa Police Chief Houston returns to Harper County, Kansas, as sergeant/detective

At the November meeting of Kiowa's City Council Monday night, Police Chief Nate Houston submitted his letter of resignation. He explained in open session that he didn't apply for another position. However, he couldn't turn down an offer from the Harper County, Kansas, Sheriff's Department.

Houston said he was offered the job as sergeant/detective in Harper County. He said it's a perfect fit since his daughter lives in Harper. Houston is a native of Harper and graduate of Chaparral High School. He came to the KPD from the Harper Police Department in September of 2018.
