Women's Basketball Drops Contest With No. 18 Minnesota State-Moorhead

ABERDEEN, S.D. – The Rogers State Women's Basketball team suffered its second-straight defeat to begin the season on Saturday, falling to No. 18 Minnesota StateMoorhead in the Central Region Challenge hosted at Wachs Arena and Northern State. The Hillcats fell behind early on the opening shot of the game from the Northern Sun team and Rogers State never led, falling 98-41. Rogers State was held to just 21 percent shooting in the game and 18 percent from behind the arc, as Minnesota State-Moorhead opened up a 25-12 lead after one quarter and a 54-20 lead at the half on 69 percent shooting, including 82 percent from three-point range with nine three pointers. Vanessa Gajdosova led the way for the Hillcats, recording her first double-digit game by scoring 13 points. The sophomore transfer also had three rebounds in the game. Bailey Kliewer led the Hillcats on the glass, grabbing seven rebounds to go along with six points. Rylie Elkin made her Hillcat debut in the game. The freshman had a rebound and a block in nine minutes. Azaria Floyd also saw her first action of the season. Floyd came off the bench to score four points. She also had a pair of rebounds, a steal and an assist. The Hillcats had just eight turnovers in the game, but forced just eight from the Dragons. Rogers State will look to rebound on Thursday, as the Hillcats welcome in Randall to the Claremore Expo Center for the home opener. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. against the Saints.
