November 17, 2019

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Lani Snowden poured in a career-high 29 points and the Reddies dominated defensively on the way to a 103-47 victory over Bacone College. Henderson State (2-1) forced Bacone into 36 turnovers as a team as the Reddies raced out to a 35-7 lead after one quarter. Snowden finished the night 9- of-13 from the field and 5-of-8 from 3-point range while dishing out three assists and tallying four of HSU's 29 steals. Karrington Whaley and Hailey Estes just missed out on their first double-doubles of the season, as Whaley finished with 16 points and eight rebounds, while Estes tallied 15 points and nine rebounds with a career-high seven steals. Estes now has 16 steals in the first three games of the 2019-2020 season. Pink Jones did a masterful job orchestrating the Henderson offense in the half-court and on the fast break, finishing with nine assists to just one turnover. Madi Nichols also provided the Reddies with excellent defense off the bench and added two 3-pointers as she finished with six points on the night. Freshmen Gracie Raby and Tamia Templeton scored the first points of their careers as Raby finished with eight points on 3-of-8 shooting and Templeton finished with four. The Reddies return to action on Nov. 21 when they host Southern Arkansas at 5:30 p.m. in the GAC opener for both teams. 1st Quarter It was all Henderson State from the get-go on Friday night as the Reddies forced Bacone into turnovers on five of their first eight possessions and jumped out to a 16-2 lead. Following a 3-pointer from Bacone and a media timeout, the Reddies resumed their full-court press which had Bacone searching for answers. Henderson State ended the opening frame on a 19-2 run and headed into the second quarter with a 35-7 lead. 2nd Quarter After shooting 61.9% from the field in the first, Henderson's offense came back down to earth as the Reddies finished the second quarter shooting just 30% on 6-of-20 attempts from the floor. HSU's defense however, continued to cause trouble on almost every Bacone possession, as the Warriors could not find any offensive rhythm. The Reddies took a 51-20 lead into the halftime break. 3rd Quarter The Reddies proved that good defense can be the best offense in the third, as their suffocating full-court press jumpstarted a 15-0 run that gave them their largest lead, 66-22. With the score 73-30, Blu Jones got involved for the first time, drilling a 3-pointer off a feed from Pink Jones which highlighted a 15-7 run. HSU took a massive 88-37 advantage into the fourth and final frame. 4th Quarter Henderson continued its dominance in the final quarter, scoring the first seven points of the period to take a 95-37 lead.
