Burlington robotics team headed to regionals

The Burlington Robotics team participated in the Heartland BEST competition at the Northwestern campus on Nov. 2. The team placed second in gaming and second in the BEST competition. The BEST contest includes the robot, as well as the exhibit, the marketing plan and the engineering notebook.
For the sixth year, the team won the award for the Most Elegant Robot. While not initially qualified to compete at regionals, the team received word that they will be competing at regionals in Denver on Dec. 7 and 8. Approximately 40 teams from numerous states will also compete.
The elementary classes invested in the robotics team by purchasing penny stocks. Other investors included the Alfalfa Electric Cooperative, the town of Burlington, Lowes, Wal-Mart, Pettit's House of Carpet, Burlington Co-op and Alva State Bank.
