Food drive brings in almost 1,000 items

Burlington Student Council held its annual food drive in the first week of November. Each year a competition between the pre-K through 12th grade classes is held to determine who can bring the most cans and nonperishable food items. The competition was separated between the younger and older groups and the reward for the most food was a donut party.

The kindergarten won with a total of 229 items. Next was the fourth grade with 103 items and last was the eighth grade, who won the older class competition with 155 items. In all, 830 items were donated to help those in need.
