November 22, 2019

DURANT, Okla. – Katie Webb dropped 30 points and Southeastern shot 55.6 percent from the field on the night to pick up a 90-79 win over Oklahoma Baptist in the Great American Conference opener on Thursday night in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

The win extends the Savage Storm start to 3-0 and lifts them to 1-0 in GAC play heading into a Saturday matchup against Southwestern Oklahoma State at 1 p.m. back in Bloomer Sullivan Arena.

Webb posted a 30 point effort on 12-of-19 shooting with a 6-of-8 performance at the free throw line.

She was joined in double-figures by Briley moon who finished with 18 on 4-of-9 shooting, and Kamryn Cantwell with 17 on a 5-of-10 night.

Tracy Johnson turned in seven off the bench, while Chandler Kemp added six.

Cantwell turned in a stat line to envy as in addition to her 17 points she handed out a game-high seven assists offensively, while on the defensive end hauled in six rebounds and snagged six steals.

Webb led the way on the glass with eight boards, while Moon added five rebounds and three steals.

Both teams came out hitting shots as each shot north of 60 percent from the field.

OBU took the early lead and went up 9-4 before the Storm made a move capped by a Cantwell layup to take its first lead at 10-9.

The teams would trade the lead and eventually play to a 19-19 tie before a Webb bucket would put SE in front and they would take a 25-23 lead into the first quarter break.

Southeastern extended that lead in the second quarter, with a Cantwell three pushing it to 11 points at the 5:42 mark before the advantage ultimately grew to 17 points on a Jordan Benson three with 1:58 to go in the first half.

A late Bison push would close the Storm lead to 50-38 at halftime.

SE opened the second half on a 14-0 run that was capped by a pair of Cantwell free throws which pushed the Storm lead to 64-38 midway through the third.

OBU would chip away at that lead and cut it to 71-53 by the end of the third quarter.

The Bison continued to chip away, closing the gap to single digits at 80-71 with 3:44 to play, but a Webb layup would push the lead back to 11 and the Storm would go on to win by that same margin at 90-79.
