Thanksgiving started as a harvest festival in October 1621 and lasted three days and in some families it still does. It was an on-and-off holiday until Abe Lincoln made it a federal holiday in 1863. It has been a great time to have fellowship with your family, food, football, and, in another lifetime for us, a day for family quail hunts. The quail have been safe from our family for about 30-plus years.
