Woods County commissioners approve grant, bridge inspections

November 27, 2019

The Woods County commissioners had a short meeting Monday, Nov. 25. They approved an invoice and a grant as well as acknowledging a change in a bid.

The invoice was for $501 from Circuit Engineering District (CED) #8 for bridge inspections. Donnie Head of CED #8 attended the meeting. He said two bridge inspections were completed along with an engineer’s fee.

Woods County Emergency Manager Ethan Feilder told the commissioners his department had been awarded a $20,000 Emergency Management Performance Grant for fiscal year 2020. The grant is paid out quarterly and is about the same as the previous year. One change is that the county must have a hazard mitigation plan on file or be in the process of completing it. Feilder said he expects to have that finished before the end of the year. The commissioners voted to accept the grant.

Recently the commissioners approved an HVAC bid for District 3 from Brandon’s Comfort Solutions. However, the air conditioner unit relocation was not included in the original bid total. Commissioner Randy McMurphy explained the $912 was listed on the bid packet but not included in the final total. This raises the total bid to $10,558 which is still the lowest bid received. The commissioners acknowledged the change in the bid total.

The commissioners approved minutes of the last meeting, safety awards, payroll, warrants and claims. They also approved blanket purchase orders.
