Marker rededication in commemoration of 200th anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail

The other Santa Fe Trail marker that has been placed by the High Plains Chapter in 1994 located on County Road 320 west of Wheeless, Oklahoma, near the New Mexico state line was rededicated in an informal ceremony on October 27, 2019. The importance of the Santa Fe Trail both for travel and commercial purposes in the growth of the United States, along with the dangers and trials it presented travelers, was the focus for the day as the Woodward Chapter NSDAR along with the Oklahoma State Society NSDAR commemorated the 200th anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail by rededicating a Santa Fe Trail Marker placed by the High Plains Chapter in 1994. The marker is located in the far western portion of the Oklahoma Panhandle west of Boise City on Highway 325.
