GEORGE HERMAN RHOADES

George Herman Rhoades, 86, entered into this world to Bertha and Charles Rhoades on February 3, 1933, in Wilsey, Kansas, and departed from his loved ones on December 29, 2019, and is resting in Jesus's love.

George attended school in Hardtner, Kansas. After school George worked a variety of jobs before serving in the U.S. Navy as a fireman from May 26, 1950, until he was honorably discharged on December 4, 1953. George then moved back into the Hardtner area and worked in construction, carpentry and mechanics.

Besides George was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; eight sisters; six brothers and two sons, Jim Keigley and Glenn Lynn.

He is survived by one sister, Joann Currey; his children, Barney Lynn, Ann Lee, Robert Walsh, Carolyn Simon, Richard Rhoades, David Rhoades (Jamie), Mary Culbreath, George "Mouse" Rhoades (Melodye), Charlene Farabaugh, Katherine Winegarner (William), Ronnie McKitrick (Nadia) and James Rhoades; 44 grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren (and still counting); numerous nieces; nephews, and lots of other relatives.


A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Hardtner Community Center/School in Hardtner Kansas, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Kiowa. Online condolences may be made at http://www.lanmanmemorials.com.
