Motive for Kansas City-area crime spree still unknown

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Investigators are still trying to determine what prompted a man to steal a gun from a suburban Kansas City store and drive to an Independence car dealership, where he shot a salesman. The man, Jeffrey Millsap, 26, was shot to death by a Clay County deputy after a police chase that ended near Holt.
A gun found near Millsap's body was the same weapon stolen from Academy Sports and Outdoors in Liberty on Thursday, said Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Lowe.
