Alva Regional Airport agrees to installing ODAL system

This drawing shows the configuration of the ODALS lights proposed for the north end of the main runway at the Alva Regional Airport. There would be two lights (shown as circles) east and west of the runway threshold and a single line of lights extending north.

The Alva Regional Airport Commission spent some time Monday night discussing the recommendation by the Oklahoma Aeronautics Commission (OAC) to install some approach lights. The omni-directional approach lights (ODALs) show pilots, at night and in bad weather, the path to and centerline of the runway.

All members of the commission were present including Chair Dale Logsdon, Caleb Mosburg, Kelly Parker, Terry Turner and Paul Kinzie.

The good news is that the OAC will pay for all but five percent of the cost of the lights and installation. Since the lights will be on both sides of Harper Road,...
