I recently attended Eldon Easterly's funeral service. Upon arrival, I observed two firemen in the chapel clad in their beautiful uniforms. I had forgotten the 91-year-old we were putting to rest was a volunteer fireman. Many of the family members were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

When lining up for the procession to the cemetery I realized the spotless pickup outside with yellow and white lights was the lead vehicle to the cemetery. A perfectly groomed fireman drove that truck.

We headed north on 13th Street to Flynn Street where a police car and saluting policeman showed his respect...
