Goldbugs defeat Newkirk Tigers 54-34

The Alva Goldbugs got a much needed win Tuesday night at home against the Newkirk Tigers, 54-34. The Goldbugs had been winless since the home game against Frontier on Jan. 4.

The Tigers never led during the game Tuesday, but they didn't make Alva's victory easy. The Goldbugs slowly pulled away in the first quarter for a 12-5 margin. Newkirk only scored four points in the second while Alva put in 11 for a halftime spread of 23-9. The Tigers fought hard in the third, making 12 points, but the Goldbugs added 18 for a 20-point lead of 41-21 going into the final period. Both teams scored 13 points...
