FAIRVIEW, Okla. (AP) — Two people were killed in a weekend head-on car crash in northwestern Oklahoma, state troopers said Monday.

It happened Sunday night near Fairview, about 105 miles northwest of Oklahoma City. A Chevrolet Cruze heading west on U.S. Highway 60 crossed the center line and slammed into a Dodge Journey in the eastbound lane, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Wanda Jo Brawner, 61, of Fairview, was driving the Cruz, according to OHP. She died at the scene.

Shelene Rhea Whiteshirt, 47, of Seiling, was driving the Journey, OHP said. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. A passenger in Whiteshirt's vehicle, Brandon Jay Benton, 41, also of Seiling, was hospitalized in stable condition.

Whiteshirt and Benton were wearing seatbelts, trooper said, but Brawner was not. The investigation continues.
