Alva Church of God

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. and worship at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Nathan Braudrick. Alva Church of God is located at 517 Ninth St. in Alva and can be found on the web at http://www.AlvaChurchOfGod.org.

Sunday: Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. and morning worship is at 10:30 a.m. Evening worship begins at 5:30 p.m. Young adults gather at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday: Wednesday services include 7 p.m. Bible Study, and youth group also meets at 7 p.m.

Alva Friends Church

Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m .; coffee and donut fellowship at 10:10 a.m .; worship at 10:30 a.m. Alva Friends Church is on the corner of College Avenue and Center Street.

Barnes Street Church of Christ

Sunday worship services will be at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. (7 p.m. during daylight savings time). Visitors are most welcome to attend the worship services. For more information, contact Andrew Rhodes (327-3368) and Brian Gaddy (327-5130).

Bible Baptist Church

Sunday: Sunday school and adult Bible study groups start at 10 a.m. There are three graded classes for children, a teen class, and two adult Bible classes. Join us for a time of learning and fellowship.

Our worship service starts at 11 a.m. Come and sing the great hymns of faith and hear a message focused on making the Bible applicable to your life today. Our sermon series “Revive” concludes today.

Junior and Teen Impact, our student ministry, meets at 5 p.m. Are you looking for a Sunday night service? We have one starting at 6 p.m. Wise Guys & Gals also meets at 6 p.m. Wise Guys and Gals is a ministry for preschool to the third grade.

Tuesday: Celebrate Recovery meets on Tuesday night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-based recovery program to help provide a safe place to discover a Savior who can give freedom from hang-ups, hurts and habits. Everyone is invited to attend.

Wednesday: Our Wednesday prayer meeting and Bible study start at 7 p.m.

Capron United Methodist Church

Come visit us at the little church on the prairie. Church service at 9:30 a.m.

Cedar Grove Wesleyan Church

Sunday: Pastor Nathan Hosier and the Cedar Grove family invite you and your family to come this Sunday to worship with us. Pastor Nathan will continue with sermons from “The Sermon” with a sermon titled “The Great Antithesis.” We look forward to seeing you.

Come join us every Sunday for Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. We also have a group study Sunday evening at 6 p.m. at the church.

Tuesdays: Our Worker Appreciation Truck Stop continues every other Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon at the church. Stop by and see us.

Thursdays: The ladies' sewing group meets on the first and third Thursday of every month in Hardtner.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Services The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Alva Branch begin each Sunday at 10 a.m. With sacrament meeting (worship service). The church is located at 1467 Thunderbird Rd., next to the Alva Recreation Center. Visitors are always welcome.

Children meet for an hour of Primary beginning at 11 a.m. each Sunday. Sunday school for youth and adults is held the first and third Sundays, also at 11 a.m. On the second and fourth Sundays, youth meet for Young Men and Young Women meetings while adult men meet for Priesthood and women for Relief Society. A combined meeting of youth and adults is held on fifth Sundays throughout the year.

Curriculum for the year is “Come Follow Me – The Book of Mormon, Another Testament of Jesus Christ.” Study guides for individuals and families are available free at the church.

College Hill Church of Christ

Sunday Bible class for all ages begins at 9:30 a.m. and worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Following the weekly fellowship lunch, the afternoon service will begin at 12:45 p.m. Don't miss a Sunday with our great Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Dacoma United Methodist Church

Everyone is welcome. Fellowship coffee and doughnuts are at 8:45 a.m. Worship service with Rev. Don Jones is at 9 a.m.

eXtreme Youth Center

The eXtreme, located at 425 College Ave. in Alva, is a ministry of Hopeton Church. Students in sixth through 12th grade are invited to come hang out, play games, work on homework and enjoy time with friends after school from 3 to 5:30 p.m. The eXtreme is available to rent for parties and events. First Assembly of God

First Baptist Church

Sunday: 9:15 a.m. small groups, 10:30 a.m. morning worship with nursery provided.

Tuesday: Noon Brown Bag Bible Study. Bring your lunch and enjoy the fellowship.

Wednesday: 3 p.m. Sharing at Share Convalescent Home, 6 p.m. Youth (7th grade and up).

First Christian Church

Sunday: Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. (On Fifth Sundays, we have a breakfast here at the church during this time.) Worship begins at 10:30 a.m., as does Worship and Wonder for children over 4 years of age; nursery is provided for children under age 4.

Everyone is invited to wear their favorite team jersey or colors to church on Superbowl Sunday.

Rev. Drew Kirtley will bring a sermon titled “Team Tryouts,” based on John 15:1-11. Philip Anton will be the scripture reader. Shelly Bouziden will lead the communion prayer. Philip Anton will dedicate the offerings.

Serving will be deacons Brandi Miller (captain), Ryne Wilson (greeter also serving at Share at 3:45 p.m.), Shannon Wilson (greeter also serving at Beadles at 3 p.m.) and Bryan Miller (greeter). Bill Beeler and Toby Anton will run sound and video. Tricia Coday will lead Worship and Wonder.

At noon will be the Soup'er Bowl Lunch Fundraiser in Fellowship Hall. A variety of soups and desserts will be available by donation.

Coming next month: Starting in February, two Sunday school classes for adults will begin: a conversation class, focused on faith and life devotions, Christian fellowship and casual conversation, will meet in the parlor. The other class, a Bible study led by Pastor Drew, will focus on studying the Bible and having theological discussions. This class will meet in Fellowship Hall.

Also beginning in February a new morning worship series called “Team Spirit” will begin. The sermon series will focus on pride, working together, taking sides, and being a Christian community.

Monday, Feb. 3: At 9:30 a.m. is the first meeting of the Women's Bible Study in Church Parlor. Quilting and Prayer Blankets will be at 6 p.m.

Wednesday, Feb. 5: Man Church and Lunch at noon. College fellowship dinner at 5 p.m. Also at 5 p.m. are the middle school and high school Bible studies. Children's choir is from 5:15 to 6 p.m. The prayer meeting will be in the parlor at 5:15 p.m. and the young adult fellowship is in the parlor at 6 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 9: Cabinet and board meetings will be held in the parlor.

First Presbyterian Church

Sunday: Sunday school begins at 9:30 a.m. Worship and communion service begins at 11 a.m. Pastor Rev. Ron Pingelton will bring the message “What Am I To Do?” Marge Franz will be the liturgist. Readings: Psalm 15, Micah 6:1-8, Matthew 5:1-12.

Monday: Intra-City Salad Supper will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Lutheran Church. Presbyterian Women will provide the devotion.

Wednesday: Youth group meets at 6 p.m. for a meal and Christian education. Session meeting will be at 6 p.m.

First United Methodist Church

Hopeton Church

Nazarene Church

Donut and coffee fellowship is at 9:15 each Sunday morning, Bible study for ages 6 and up at 9:30, and worship begins at 10:30 a.m. Nursery is available for children under age 6 during worship. Missions lessons for ages 6 through fifth grade are held the second and fourth Sundays of the month.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church

The celebration of Holy Mass (Jesus in the Eucharist) is the source of our spiritual nourishment. Rev. Father Bala, Sagili Jesudas, is the parish priest (pastor) of Sacred Heart in Alva and its missions in Cherokee and Waynoka. You are welcome; be a part of the Sacred Heart Parish family.

Saturday: Waynoka services at Our Mother of Mercy Church include Sacrament of Confession at 4:30 p.m. and Holy Mass (Eucharist) at 5 p.m.

Sunday: Alva services at Sacred Heart Church include Sacrament of Confession at 8:15 a.m., Holy Rosary (1 and 3 Sundays) at 8:30 a.m., Holy Mass (Eucharist) at 9 a.m. Cherokee services at Saint Cornelius Church include Holy Rosary at 11 a.m. (all Sundays), Sacrament of Confession at 11:15 a.m., and Holy Mass (Eucharist) at 11:30 a.m.

Town and Country Christian Church

Sunday: At 9:30 a.m. will be Sunday school for all ages. The morning worship service begins at 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday: Town & Country Saints will meet at 6 p.m. for prayer time.

Wednesday: Youth group will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Zion Lutheran Church

Please join us on Sundays for Sunday school and worship with us at Zion Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod) at Third and Maple streets.

Sundays school (children and adults) begins at 9:15 a.m. Fellowship is at 10 a.m. Worship starts at 10:30 a.m. with Communion on the first and third Sundays. During Advent and Lent, Zion holds Wednesday services at 7 p.m.

Weekly Happenings: Weekday School (grades 4-6) meets on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. Handbells practice Mondays at 5 p.m.

Monthly meetings: Pitch Group (first Sunday evening of the month), Ruth Circle (first Monday of the month at noon), LWML (first Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.), Seasoned Saints (third Tuesday at 1 p.m.), Youth Group.
