Northwestern Foundation scholarship drive kicks off Feb. 5

February 2, 2020

ALVA, Okla. – An annual tradition encouraging the Alva community to invest in the students of Northwestern Oklahoma State University begins soon.

During the scholarship drive, off-campus teams consisting of a community member and either a university or Foundation & Alumni Association office employee and captains representing each campus building compete in raising funds. These funds finance continuing student scholarships at Northwestern through the RISE (Rangers Investing in Students & Education) scholarship endowment established in 2006, but renamed to RISE in 2015. The Enid and Woodward campuses will also be represented by captains.

“Generating more resources for our students is critical in today’s environment,” President Janet Cunningham said. “We are thankful that so many campus and community members make this a priority.”

Thelma Crouch leads the off-campus teams, including Linda Beeler, Deb Corr, Paul Corr, Linda Tutwiler, Rachel Spellman, Chonda Dees, Bruce Meyer, Jane Tucker, Melissa Fisher, Barbara Rockenbach, Kendra Schnebel, Don Thomas, Traci Williams, Jerrad Hada, Baylei Hada, Charla Turner, Karen Koehn and Dayna Jordan.

The on-campus teams are led by Dr. Bo Hannaford. Team members include Skeeter Bird, John Allen, Sadie Bier, Rachel Kraus, Kat Lunn, Kaylyn Hansen, Shane Hansen, Christee Jenlink, Calleb Mosburg, David Pecha, Mindi Clark and Lawana Newell.
