Drivers in NJ, around nation still seeing lower gas prices

February 9, 2020

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Drivers in New Jersey and around the nation are still seeing prices at the pump decline amid lower demand and an increase in supplies.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in New Jersey on Friday was $2.51, down four cents from a week ago. Drivers were paying $2.32 a gallon a year ago at this time.

The national average gas price Friday was $2.44, also down four cents from a week ago. A year ago, motorists were paying $2.28 a gallon.

Analysts expect the decline to continue this month but say there may be some volatility in oil prices. Many will be watching for effects of the coronavirus outbreak and to see whether OPEC will consider further oil production cuts.
