Rural health care received a boost in the Senate last week.
The Senate unanimously passed a measure allowing collaboration between Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) and physicians, which is an issue that has been stalled at the Capitol for years. Senate Bill 801 changes the CRNA and physician relationship from supervisory to collaborative. CRNAs are sometimes the only providers for critical access hospitals and other health care centers in rural Oklahoma.
