Cherokee man injured avoiding a coyote

A Cherokee man was injured when he swerved his vehicle to avoid a coyote. The wreck occurred Sunday night about 8 p.m. on Greer Road at County Road 570 in Alfalfa County. The location is approximately eight miles west of Cherokee.

George Leatherman, 45, of Cherokee, was driving a 2015 Ford Fiesta westbound on Greer Road. He swerved to miss a coyote and lost control of the vehicle which exited the roadway to the north and struck a utility pole.

Leatherman was transported by Alfalfa County EMS to Share Medical Center in Alva and later transferred by Miller EMS to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita...
