God is not the problem

The title of a popular book once asked the question, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" The short answer is merely an observation: there are no good people. The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 3 that "there is none righteous, no not one." He then goes on to say that, since none of us is truly good, and all of us have fallen short of God’s standard of righteousness, God simply justifies us all freely, by his grace, on the basis of nothing more than our faith in Christ.

But even if there are no truly good people – if we are all in the same boat so to speak, the question still remains, "Why...
