KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A second man has been charged in a shooting that killed one person and injured four others last month in a popular Kansas City entertainment district.
Ernest Jones is jailed on $150,000 cash only bond after he was charged Thursday with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action charges. in the shooting that left 17-year-old Devin Harris dead. No attorney is listed for Jones in online court records.
Police said video surveillance showed individuals shooting from a sport utility vehicle as it pulled out of a parking garage in the early morning hours of Feb. 29 in the Westport area. The surveillance also showed a dark-colored Lexus and a white Acura follow the SUV. Police said muzzle flashes could be seen from inside the Acura, as it was just behind the SUV.
Police said the license for the Acura was registered to Jones. Police also said Jones was involved in an argument with several people that night.
Another man, 25-year-old Devon Carter of Kansas City, Kansas, was charged earlier this month with the same charges as Jones. Court records say he told police that he was driving the SUV.
