Lady Rangers track picked fifth in preseason poll

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Northwestern Oklahoma State University track and field team was picked fifth in the Great American Conference, the league office announced on Thursday.
The Rangers received 21 votes holding off Southern Nazarene for the fifth spot. Oklahoma Baptist was picked as the preseason favorite with 47 total votes and five first place, edging out Harding by two votes. Harding received 45 total points and the final three first-place votes.
Southern Arkansas was picked in third place with 37 votes and East Central rounded out the top five in fourth with 28 votes.
SNU, Southwestern Oklahoma State and Southeastern Oklahoma State round out the preseason poll in the sixth, seventh and eighth places.
"We are excited about the outdoor season," head coach Jill Lancaster said. "I'm eager to get this young group of athletes in competitions. We had great growth during the indoor season and look to continue this success and keep improving every day."
Northwestern returns Zarin Goodrich, who claimed a GAC title in the javelin last year.
Harding will host the 2020 GAC Championships April 16-18.
