Tourism tax grants on Alva City Council agenda

March 15, 2020

Two payments from the tourism tax fund are on the Alva City Council agenda on Monday. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers of City Hall.

At their February meeting, the Alva Tourism Tax Committee approved a payment of $26,300 to R.A.C.E. for the Big Cruise and Car Show. The committee also approved $150,000 to go to the Alva Arena Authority. Since these amounts are over the $25,000 expenditure limit that can be approved by the city’s business manager, they must be acknowledged by a council vote.

Because of the length of time since the original quote, the cost of materials to fabricate the bed on a new Ford F550 Rescue Truck increased by $1,000. The council will discuss and vote on authorizing this increased cost above their original approval.

The council will also be voting on the renewal of the annual software maintenance agreements with Tyler Technologies for an amount not to exceed $33,472.18.

During the meeting, the council will hear reports from several city-related meetings. The mayor and interim city manager will also present reports.

Time is allowed for remarks and inquiries by citizens, limited to two minutes per speaker.

The Alva Utility Authority and Alva Economic Development Authority will meet following the council meeting. Both have routine consent agenda items for approval.
