Seniors, At-Risk Individuals

Alva’s Market will have special designated shopping hours for those 50 and older only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7 to 9 a.m. Alva’s Market is also closing earlier. Their hours are now 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Alva Police Department is working with Alva’s Market and Walmart to ensure high risk community members have the necessities without getting out of their homes. If you are in need, call Alva’s Market 580-327-2992 or Walmart 580-327-4021. The police department will be making deliveries between 8:00 and 11 a.m. Monday through Friday to the best of their abilities. This is for necessity items and citizens who have been listed as higher risk only.

City of Alva

Beginning March 18 the City of Alva is limiting public access to City Hall (including the police department and fire department), Alva Public Library and Alva Recreation Complex. Citizens are encouraged to mail in payments, use the drive thru window and the drop box, and make payments online. Staff will be onsite in all locations and available to assist citizens by phone.


Woods County Courthouse

The Woods County Courthouse doors are locked. Citizens are being asked to conduct as much business as possible by telephone. The phone numbers for the various offices are posted on the doors. Beginning next week, the courthouse will have the northeast door open.

If a face-to-face meeting is required, individuals must make an appointment. A conference room is being set aside for that purpose and will be regularly sanitized.

In an emergency meeting Thursday morning, the Woods County Commissioners announced that all events scheduled for Woods County property, including the downtown square and the fairgrounds, are canceled until further notice. This means there will be no Alva Easter Egg Hunt on April 11.


Alva Closings, Postponements

The Friends of the Library Chocolate Fantasy for April 1 has been postponed.

The Alva Easter Egg Hunt on April 11 has been canceled.

The Rialto Theatre has stopped showing movies. The snack bar is still open.

Many Alva businesses are locking their doors and asking patrons to use drive through facilities or call them for other needs.
