Drive-in church?

March 20, 2020

Rev. John Clapp, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Alva, announced Thursday that Bible Baptist will be holding drive-in church services.

“Due to governmental authorities’ recommendations and for the safety of our church family, Bible Baptist will not hold services on the church site this week,” Clapp wrote when announcing the plan.

“To meet the spiritual needs of our church family and the members of our community, Bible Baptist Church will hold a drive-in service – just like the old drive-in movie theaters, but for church instead!”

The drive-in worship service will be held in the west parking lot of Alva’s Market and will start at 10:30 a.m. Greeters will guide cars through the parking lot. An FM transmitter will broadcast services. The sermon will be “Where's God During This Crisis?”

“So, load up the kids and come to church a different way. Safe, secure fun awaits as we gather to worship the Lord,” Clapp wrote.

The service will be live-streamed on the church's Facebook page.

Clapp thanks Alva’s Market for allowing the church to use their parking lot, and thanks Starr Lumber for the use of their truck.
