Man charged in hit-and-run homicide at Kansas City park

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — A Kansas City man was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder after he allegedly stabbed another man at a park and then intentionally ran over the victim.

Corey Darden was also charged with first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action in the death of Felipe Carillo, 41, of Kansas City, on Monday at Blue Valley Park.

Officers who were responding to a report of a pedestrian being hit and killed by a vehicle found Carillo dead. Witnesses told police Carillo had been stabbed during a fight with another man and when he tried to flee, the suspect intentionally ran him over, according to court documents.

Darden was arrested after he wrecked the Jeep.

Darden is being held at the Jackson County Detention Center. Prosecutors have requested a $500,000 cash bond.
