Summer baseball in Alva in the '50s

It seems as though this picture of the '59 Indians has always been around. The Indians were the Alva Youth Council League and Tournament champions in the summer of 1959. We had ten players. For many years, it hung on the wall of one of the bedrooms at my grandmother's house.

Fast forward to the late 1970s, I saw the picture of the '9' Indians near the entrance to a restaurant in 50 Penn Place, and as well on a wall at The Split T restaurant in Oklahoma City.

The first Saturday in December is the Goldbug Christmas Party, always held at the same home in Oklahoma City, and hosted by the Hintergar...
