Freedom senior graduation is May 16

Normally the Freedom Public Schools hold a combined graduation ceremony for the kindergarten, eighth grade and senior students. But nothing is normal this year. Graduations are being postponed, held virtually or held under different rules.

Freedom Public Schools will hold senior graduation on Saturday, May 16, at 7 p.m. Senior Baccalaureate will begin at 6:30 p.m. The eighth grade and kindergarten graduations will be held virtually.

Senior ceremonies will be held in the Freedom Auditorium with each senior being allowed to have ten guests. Everyone attending must wear face masks and remain in their seats. The seats will be marked and everyone will sit six feet apart. The school will provide face masks for guests who need them. Face masks will also be supplied for the graduating seniors.

Only guests with a ticket will be allowed entry. All guests are to enter through the south end, front doors, of the building.

There will be no Rose Ceremony in order to practice social distancing. However, seniors will recognize those who have supported them throughout their lives in a presentation format. The actual graduation ceremonies will be a little different as well. The senior PowerPoint will be viewed as normal.

Graduation tables will be set up for senior gifts; however, no congregating will be allowed. After the graduation ceremony, only the seniors will be allowed to go to the tables to pick up their gifts.

Those with questions may contact Superintendent Bryant Weber at 580-227-6023 or Principal Michelle Shelite at 405-630-8236 through text or phone call.
