Cody Thayer had a private graduation Sunday evening because his military call to service came a day earlier than South Barber High School's commencement planned for Monday. SBHS tried to have their graduation on May 9 as planned but Gov. Laura Kelly stopped all graduations until May 18 in this time of the coronavirus. That didn't stop the town from coming to support Cody as he received his diploma. He and his folks, Jason and Sameta, decorated a very patriotic golf cart and took a spin down Main Street as his classmates did Monday night. As they graduated Cody was already opening the next chapter of his life.
