Large crowd supporting EMS at Alva City Council meeting

 


Monday night, the Alva City Council meeting attracted a large crowd. The meeting was held in the Alva Recreation Complex gym with chairs for the audience spaced six feet apart. In addition to a large public attendance, there was a showing of solidarity by the EMS department. On the agenda was a vote to have the interim business manager prepare and publish an RFP (request for proposals) for the ambulance service.

The size of the crowd and the number of people who wanted to talk about the issue is a good example of the value of public in-person meetings. Currently, Oklahoma public bodies are all...
