This is a eulogy I wrote in 2009 for a speech class at the University of Missouri Kansas City. I am now living in Freedom, Oklahoma, and am an active member of the American Legion Post 63 and a VFW lifetime member.

I am an American, fighting in the forces which guard my country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense.

This is the first paragraph in the Army’s Code of Conduct. These words have rung true throughout the history of our country – service members that have given their lives for our freedoms.
