Backhoe stolen, gravestones damaged at Alva Municipal Cemetery

 


A gravestone was smashed and several others vandalized at the Alva Municipal Cemetery just before Memorial Day. Cemetery Board Chair Lenny Reed said the Randy and Naomi Parker gravestone was smashed and removed from the site with pieces found in two side canyons at the cemetery. The gravestone was three rows in from the roadway so damage was not caused accidentally by a vehicle. In addition, several vases attached to headstones were knocked off.
