Over 1,500 acres burn in what started as a wheat-field fire

Sixteen fire departments from Oklahoma and Kansas responded to a harvest field blaze that ravaged 1,527 acres in winds that gusted to 40 miles per hour, Amorita-Byron Fire and Rescue Chief Brad Rieger said.
Describing the day the fire started, last Wednesday, June 17, Rieger said, "the low humidity and high winds made for brutal conditions."
The fire broke out in a wheat field at Osage Road and County Road 630, which is in northern Alfalfa County, Okla. Rieger said that is two miles north of Amorita and two miles west on the north side of the road. That's a field owned by Bob and Kim Blevi...
