A life punctuated by protests

The recent widespread protests following the death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police have caused me to think about other protests that have marked my life. Protesting has been a way to bring attention to injustice and inequality throughout American history, starting with the Boston Tea Party.
I’ve never engaged in a protest unless you count the parade in my hometown when a factory was planning to close. My younger brother and I rode our decorated bicycles in the parade with parental permission. My older brother was probably taking photos for our weekly newspaper.
